Moderators are commonly known as MODS. They hide throughout the hotel minimising the trouble and punishing those Habbos that are breaking the Habbo Way. They help Habbos on the hotel via the Call for Help. Moderators work from home, and sometimes from the office part time. All moderator applicants are given an interview then they must have a background check before they can become a moderator. Moderators use lots of different techniques while moderating such as the famously known Mod Tool. This can kick an individual user, kick a whole room, ban users and give out information to those who need it (Pop-ups). They use this to communicate to users as well. Moderators can also use speech commands, such as :roommute, :alert and :ban. Moderators are unable to unban users so banned users must use the Habbo Help Tool and Player Support to appeal against their ban and hopefully have it lifted, which unfortunately takes quite some time. Most moderators names start with MOD followed by their Habbo name (for example, MOD-Ellz), however there are now a few exceptions to this rule.

Notable Moderators

lilduckie

Christine "lilduckie" Hong sadly passed away March 23, 2002 after a long battle with Leukaemia. Christine was known for her hard work and dedication in Habbo Hotel (UK). She was also a former Hobba. According to RedVelvet - a fellow Hobba, she stated that Christine never let us see her fears, she never even hinted that she was in pain. She fought hard and accomplished her goals despite her unfortunate situation. She also said "She was the strongest person I have ever known. She will be deeply missed as one of Habbo's best moderators, the top duck collector, and an amazing friend. When I heard about her passing the next morning, all that went through my head was why. Why someone so young, pretty, and brilliant? Why didn't she tell us things were so serious? It took me a while to realize that she never wanted pity or attention because of her illness. She just wanted to be treated normally, so she never let on to anyone what she was really going through. That shows amazing strength and selflessness."

MOD-UK

MOD-UK was a dedicated Habbo and Moderator that has played a role in being the backbone of the UK moderation team for quite a while. His alternative username is Y0RKIE. On 26 December 2005, Y0RKIE sadly passed away from an illness which is currently unknown.
