The Butterfly Habberge Egg was released in March 2018 as a Limited Edition Rare. The Rare was the tenth Habberge egg to be released on the Hotel, with the Lapis Lazuli Egg, Maw-Sit-Sit Egg (Green), Maw-Sit-Sit Egg (Red), Chirp Chirp Egg, and Dark Sapphire & Diamond Egg released in 2014, and the Verdant Habberge Egg, Efflorescent Habberge Egg, Dragon Habberge Egg, and Burnished Habberge Egg released in 2016. Unlike previous years, the Butterfly Habberge Egg was released on its own and not as part of a set.
There were 132 units available at 750 Credits each and the item sold out within minutes of it being released. Many users bought the rare specifically for the Badge, as they thought the item was too expensive. As a result, the item was listed on the Marketplace for over 100 Credits less than what it was originally sold for as users attempted to gain back most of the Credits they had spent on the Rare.
