Habbo.com.au was the Australian version of Habbo. The hotel served the Australian community and was first opened in November 2004, making it the 14th international community to open. The hotel was relatively small yet was popular within its target countries of Australia and New Zealand. The hotel was not used as a pilot or beta hotel for any releases. In April 2010, it was announced that the hotel would merge with the other English-speaking hotels and on June 2nd 2010, the hotel closed and users were invited to transfer their accounts over to the new Habbo.com (International).

The Hotel Manager for much of Habbo.com.au's activity was Bamaloo.

In total, 55 badges were created specifically for use on habbo.com.au.

Campaign Furniture

Only 1 item of campaign furniture has been solely used on the Habbo.com.au hotel, the "Latrobe University Flag". This flag was used in a promotional campaign by the Australian University LaTrobe University located in Melbourne, Victoria. This item arrived on Habbo.com (International) and can be purchased from the Marketplace or user-created shops but has been renamed to remove branding.

Staff Members

Due to the relatively low population within the hotel, only 7 staff members and 6 moderators are recorded as having worked solely on the Chinese hotel.

Office Staff

There were only 12 staff members recorded as working solely on the Australian hotel.

Moderation

Habbo Australia was originally moderated by a team of volunteer moderators, Hobbas, supported by a group of professional moderators. When the Hobba program was ended globally in December 2005, the paid moderators became the sole source of moderation within the hotel. In 2009, moderation was out-sourced to Singapore, and remained here until the merge in June 2010. There where a total of 31 Moderators at Habbo Australia.

Habbo eXperts

Habbo Australia began its Habbo eXpert programme in Autumn 2005. In March 2007, it was the pilot hotel for the new Habbo X specialisations, whereby Habbo Xs were divided into three specialisations: host X, safety X and tech X. Habbo Australia was the only English-speaking hotel never to have Gamer Xs. The team also had a Head Habbo X, cutiepiez22.

Trivia

  • Habbo.co.nz was another URL used for Habbo.com.au (directed at Habbos from New Zealand).
  • Habbo Australia is the only English-speaking hotel to have released the Throne in the catalogue. It was on sale for a short period to celebrate the Queen's Birthday, priced at 25 credits.
